ADHD Coach in Oakland | ADHD Burnout & Executive Function

Many of the adults I work with are sorting through something that keeps repeating, whether it shows up at work, at home, in relationships, or in the creative projects that never seem to get enough time.

I offer ADHD coaching in Oakland for adults all over the city, from Rockridge and Temescal to the neighborhoods circling Lake Merritt, the Dimond District, Fruitvale, and the hillside streets of Montclair near Redwood Regional Park.

Sessions are a place to slow down and notice what's going on: which tasks drain more than they seem like they should, which supports come and go, and what might make the week easier to move through. We begin with where things stand today.

How it works

We dig in and get curious

Your first step is a free discovery call. You can share what's going on and what kind of support you're looking for, and we can both get a sense of whether working together makes sense. Ongoing sessions are held over video, weekly or every other week, based on your capacity.

We see whether coaching fits

Before any strategy comes into it, we talk through what your days look like, where momentum drops off, what tends to help on a good day, and what gets pushed aside when things pile up.

We try things and adjust

From there, we experiment. That might mean looking at routines, transitions, planning, communication, rest, or how decisions get made. What helps gets kept, what doesn't gets changed, and you leave with more options for when life shifts again.

For some people, the hard part is the stretch between deciding to do something and getting it started. Coaching looks at that stretch closely, along with your energy, responsibilities, and priorities, so the strategies we test have a fair chance of fitting.

Some women come to ADHD coaching after spending years keeping everyone else's schedules running while their own needs wait. Sessions give you room to look at what you've been compensating for, what you'd like more of, and what support could look like in your life today.

Burnout doesn't always mean everything has stopped. You might still be meeting deadlines and showing up for people while noticing that each week costs more than the last.

We can look at pacing, workload, recovery, and the expectations you're carrying, and decide together what could shift, pause, or come off the list.

For some people, the hormonal changes of perimenopause make ADHD symptoms feel louder or less predictable than they used to.

Coaching can help you notice what's changed in areas like memory, focus, mood, or energy, and rethink routines and expectations to match where you are now.

Getting diagnosed later in life can bring up all kinds of reactions, or very few at all.

Sessions give you space to revisit past experiences with new information, notice which patterns are still showing up, and choose what you'd like to do with that understanding.

Work can bring ADHD into focus in ways that go beyond deadlines. You might be adjusting to a new role, thinking about asking for accommodations, managing more responsibility, or wondering what you want next.

We can look at role fit, boundaries, communication, and workload so the support matches the job in front of you.

Creative work counts, whether it's a side practice, a career, or something you do only for yourself.

We might look at getting started, handling too many ideas at once, perfectionism, or making it through the unfinished middle, and notice which conditions help your work move.

I serve clients in Oakland and nearby areas

I provide ADHD coaching in Oakland and nearby cities like Berkeley, Emeryville, Piedmont, Alameda, and San Leandro. Because everything happens over video, there's no drive across town or hunt for parking before we start. A home office, a quiet room at work, or anywhere else that gives you some breathing room works well.

Testimonials

"I learned a lot working with Quinn. We mapped out a lot of my ADHD patterns and Quinn helped me see many things that I was doing that were not necessarily helping me. Quinn also offered frameworks and tools to help support me when that is what the situation called for."

 Michael H.

"I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to work with Quinn. It was an incredibly valuable experience for me. I looked forward to every session, and each one brought new insights. Quinn helped me work through several deeply important challenges, and I feel much more grounded and self-aware as a result. I wholeheartedly recommend Quinn to anyone navigating neurodiversity in their daily life, but not only. Even without ADHD, she is an exceptional coach and one of those rare professionals who can truly change the trajectory of someone's life."

Masha O.

"There is always more to learn and reflect upon; that is what I have learned the most about myself through Quinn's excellent coaching. Despite having a relatively deep understanding of myself and my ADHD, a competent coach's skill is to foster further self-reflection and to allow the client room to trust themselves in this deeper quest for self-understanding. Quinn has a mastery in knowing when to give me space, when to ask a thought-provoking question, and when to remind me of my wins/strengths. I am thankful for this perspective, which coaching offers to those with ADHD, and for its strength-based approach rather than one of brokenness and negativity. Yes, ADHDers need assistance and strategies with living in a world made for neurotypicals, but sometimes we just need to be reminded that despite it all, we are whole and we are okay."

Hello, I'm Quinn Geear, an ADHD coach for adults in Oakland and the East Bay

I founded Quinn Geear Coaching after my own ADHD diagnosis in my forties, and I trained as a coach through ADD Coach Academy. I work with adults navigating burnout, perimenopause, career shifts, creative work, and the stretches of life when familiar ways of coping stop holding up.

Sessions are curious and collaborative. We look at what's happening, notice the patterns underneath, and test supports that fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What does an ADHD coach actually do?

An ADHD coach works alongside you to understand how your attention, energy, and motivation move, then builds practical strategies and accountability around that. With me, that also includes strengths anchoring, values based strategy, and support across every part of your life, not only productivity.

  • How long do you typically work with clients?

That depends on where you're starting and what you're working toward. Most clients find their footing within three to six months, and many continue longer for ongoing accountability and support. We figure out the right pace together as the work unfolds.

  • Will insurance pay for an ADHD coach?

ADHD coaching typically isn't covered by health insurance. It is, however, eligible for FSA and HSA funds, as long as you have a Letter of Medical Necessity from your doctor showing coaching is part of your ADHD care.

  • Do I need a diagnosis to start coaching with you?

No. I work with adults at every stage of understanding their own ADHD: some with a recent diagnosis, some with one from decades ago they never revisited, and some who have never been formally evaluated and are working from a long held hunch. If a formal evaluation is the right next step for you, I can refer you to a psychiatrist for an assessment.
